Terms of Service
Welcome to Good News. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Good News mobile application (the "App").
When you install or use Good News, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install the App.
1. Who We Are
The App is provided by:
- Entity: TYP NETWORK PTE. LTD.
- UEN (Singapore): 202209033N
- D-U-N-S®: 659993981
- Registered office: 20 Collyer Quay #09-01, Singapore 049319
- Website:
https://goodnewsapp.app - Contact: privacy@goodnewsapp.app
In compliance with Article 10 of Spain's Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE), these identifying details are also published on the website. Hereinafter, "we" or "TYP NETWORK".
2. Acceptance
When you install or first use the App, we present separate consent screens for (a) these Terms and (b) the Privacy Policy. Both are positive, voluntary actions (clickwrap); no checkbox is pre-ticked. We log the accepted version (hash and timestamp) per installation.
Because the App is free with no monetary consideration, the 14-day right of withdrawal under EU Directive 2011/83/EU has no monetary effect. Even so, you can uninstall the App and request deletion of your data at any time (see Privacy Policy §10).
3. Description of the Service
Good News is a mobile news aggregator that, every day, surfaces a short selection of positive news — typically between 8 and 12 stories — from a country of your choice (Spain at MVP, with international expansion on the roadmap).
The service consists of:
- A daily digest of articles selected and rewritten with the help of AI from publicly available sources.
- A single optional push notification per day at your chosen hour.
- A simple feedback mechanism (dismiss / favourite).
The App is free, contains no advertising, and has no in-app purchases.
4. Conditions of Use
You agree to:
- Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Sharing the occasional screenshot is fine; systematic or commercial redistribution is not.
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by mandatory law (Article 6 EU Directive 2009/24/EC) and by open-source component licences.
- Not interfere with or stress our backend (no abusive scraping, no DoS, no exploiting vulnerabilities). Save for text-and-data-mining rights permitted by applicable law, no automated access.
- Not use the App for illegal, fraudulent, or rights-infringing purposes.
- Respect the rights of source publishers when you follow links to their sites.
We may suspend access (e.g. block a push token) if we detect serious or repeated abuse.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1. Third-party articles
The original articles, including headlines, copy, and accompanying photographs, belong to the publishers that produced them (e.g. El País, ABC, La Vanguardia). We do not own them. The App provides:
- A link to the publisher's original page.
- A brief headline and summary rewritten with AI.
- The publisher's name as the source.
- An illustrative image (publisher's or AI-generated; see §5.2).
We rely on (a) the linking exception and, for headlines and short summaries, (b) on individual or collective arrangements with publishers and/or on Article 15 of EU Directive 2019/790 (implemented in Spain by Royal Decree-Law 24/2021 and Article 32.2 of the Spanish IP Act).
Publisher notice: rights-holders may contact privacy@goodnewsapp.app; we respond within 7 days. We accept DMCA notices for US users at the same address.
5.2. AI rewriting and AI generation — transparency
- Headlines and summaries are rewritten by AI (Claude, by Anthropic). The canonical source is always the link to the publisher's site.
- Cover images that are not the publisher's are AI-generated (OpenAI image-generation model). They are illustrative and do not depict real events or real persons.
- Under Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the EU AI Act), each AI-generated image carries a visible label in the news card and corresponding C2PA / IPTC metadata where supported. AI-generated text is labelled equivalently.
5.3. Our intellectual property
The App's code, design, layouts, and brand ("Good News") are protected work and/or trademarks (registration pending in Singapore and the EU). No copying or reuse without our written permission, except for reasonable informational reference.
For AI-generated content, rights may be limited by jurisdiction. No systematic commercial use without our permission.
6. AI Disclaimer and Incident Reporting
Good News uses AI to classify articles (positive vs not) and to rewrite headlines and summaries. AI systems can:
- Misclassify an article.
- Introduce factual or tonal errors when rewriting.
- Generate illustrative images that are not journalistic evidence.
That is why the link to the original publisher is always available. The App is not a substitute for original journalism; our rewriting is an editorial aid, not a guarantee of accuracy.
Incident reporting. If you encounter a misleading, inaccurate, or harmful AI-rewritten headline or summary:
- From the App: tap the article and select "Report this story".
- Or email privacy@goodnewsapp.app.
We review each report within 72 hours and remove or correct the article where the report is well-founded.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under mandatory EU and Spanish law (in particular, TRLGDCU):
- We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of AI-generated headlines, summaries, or images.
- We are not responsible for the content of linked third-party websites.
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.
- We do not guarantee that the App is free of errors, interruptions, or vulnerabilities.
Where the law forbids exclusion of certain liability (gross negligence, wilful misconduct, personal injury, consumer-protection rules), that liability remains in force.
8. Service Availability
We provide the App as is and as available. We do not promise a minimum service level or uptime.
We may perform maintenance, modify/suspend/discontinue features, or drop support for older OS versions. Material changes will be flagged with reasonable advance notice inside the App.
9. Modifications and Termination
We may modify, suspend, or close the Service for technical, legal, or viability reasons. Save in cases of imminent risk to other users or the service, we will give you at least 7 days' notice and, where applicable, an opportunity to remedy any issue. If we permanently close the Service, associated personal data is deleted per the Privacy Policy.
You can stop using the App by uninstalling it. To also delete backend data, use "Delete my data" in Settings.
10. Privacy
The processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, provided in accordance with GDPR Article 13.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you may bring proceedings before the courts of your country of habitual residence, and the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country applies, including in Spain the TRLGDCU. Legal basis: Regulation (EU) 1215/2012 (Brussels I-bis) and Regulation (EC) 593/2008 (Rome I).
For non-consumer users or users outside the EU, these Terms are governed by Singapore law and disputes are resolved by the courts of Singapore.
Alternative dispute resolution (Spain): Spanish consumers may use accredited bodies (consumo.gob.es) and Consumer Arbitration Boards (Law 7/2017). (The former EU ODR platform ceased operations in July 2025.)
12. Apple- and Google-Specific Provisions
- These Terms are between you and TYP NETWORK PTE. LTD., not Apple or Google.
- Apple and Google are not responsible for the App or related claims.
- Apple and Google are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms to the extent required by their platform terms.
